OUR STORY

Die Vereinigung indonesischer Studenten (V.I.S. e.V.) is an organisation dedicated to supporting Indonesian students before, during, and after their studies in Germany. Formed in 1956 in Bad Godesberg, this organisation, more commonly referred to as PPI Jerman (the Union of Indonesian Students in Germany), has been a staple in the cultural integration of Indonesians plying their trade in Germany. With over 5000 students living across the country, Germany has the largest amount of Indonesian students in all of Europe. Due to this, there are 28 supporting organisations across the country supporting students in their daily lives.

Meet another one of our speakers: Magdalena Bernhardt

Magdalena Bernhardt was born in Poland and studied law at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2012 she successfully passed the 2nd legal state exam in the jurisdiction of the High Court in Berlin. Her professional legal experience comprises stations in a German law firm specialized on international clients, Polish law firms in Wroclaw and Swidnica, the Film Promotional Agency of Berlin and the public Polish TV station TVP in Wroclaw.
Since 2015 she uses her multi-cultural background and strong expertise in the field of art and creative sciences in her law firm and is entrusted with the consultation of international clients, which mainly come from the East Asian region, in the fields of Civil, Administrative and Immigration Law. She speaks Polish, German and English.

Meet one of our speakers: Betharie Cendera Arrahmani

Betharie Cendera Arrahmani is an enrolled Master student with experiences in tutoring others, working in R&D department, supporting performance management and participating in a business incubator project. She acquired a scholarship for highly-talented students from the German government as well as possessing project management and interpersonal skills through engagement in many projects.

After completing her Bachelor at FH Würzburg-Schweinfurt, taking Business and Engineering major with specialization Mechatronics and Production, she is at the moment doing her Masters at one of the most popular university in Germany, Technische Universität München, majoring Pharmaceutical Bioprocessing Engineering, while also at the same time working at Celgene, taking role as Medical Affairs.

Meet one of our speakers: Irma Kasri

After completing her Masters at University of Applied Science Worms, Germany, taking International Business Administration and Foreign Trade, Irma Kasri is currently part of SAP, the third largest software company in the world now according Forbes Global 2000.
Her role as Business Development Specialist for the Customer and Strategy Office (CSO), EMEA North includes bridging strategy, shaping technological innovation, and acting as an incubator for new business areas to accelerate adoption in the EMEA region.
During her 7 years working at SAP so far, Irma Kasri has occupied several strategic positions, including HR Project Management Office (PMO) Team Support, HRBP PMO Associate and also Project Consultant.

Meet one of our speakers: Dr. Hutomo Suryo Wasisto

Dr. Hutomo Suryo Wasisto received the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, the Master of Engineering degree in Semiconductor Engineering from the Asia University, Taiwan, and Doktor-Ingenieur (Dr.-Ing.) degree in Electrical Engineering with Summa Cum Laude honor from the Braunschweig University of Technology (TU Braunschweig), Germany in 2008, 2010, and 2014, respectively. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, in 2015-2016.
Currently, he is Head of Optoelectromechanical Integrated Nanosystems for Sensing (OptoSense) Group in the Laboratory for Emerging Nanometrology (LENA), Braunschweig, Germany. His main research interests include nano-opto-electro-mechanical systems (NOEMS), nanosensors, nanoelectronics, nanoLEDs, nanogenerators, and nanometrology.
He has published more than 60 papers in international scientific peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings as well as two patents. He has also been the recipient of the best paper award and the best young scientist award at the 8th IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems (IEEE NEMS 2013) in Suzhou, China and the 26th European Conference on Solid-State Transducers (Eurosensors 2012) in Krakow, Poland, respectively.
In 2014, he received the Walter-Kertz-Studienpreis (Walter Kertz Study Award) for his excellent doctoral dissertation and achievements of scientific studies at the interface between physics, electrical engineering, and information technology from the TU Braunschweig, Germany.

Meet one of our speakers: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hendro Wicaksono

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hendro Wicaksono joins Jacobs University from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His special interest is information management in the industrial engineering sector, in particular the industry 4.0 environment. His interest is in the methods and tools for the recording, integration, structuring, analysis and pattern recognition of data. The objective is to make them more intelligent in order to be able to design industrial processes with greater efficiency in terms of costs, resources and energy.

The 37-year-old, who has also worked as an IT Consultant and Visiting Professor at Airlangga University in Indonesia was particularly attracted to Jacobs Universitys international focus in research and teaching. “Our students come from almost all the four corners of the world; at some point, they will be managers in their countries. It makes me proud to think that I am contributing to their career," he implies.
